Digital Commodity Risk

HealthCoin Rewards (HCR) and HCC tokens are digital commodities whose value is determined by open market forces. Their prices can increase or decrease significantly, rapidly, and without warning. There is no central authority, government guarantee, or deposit insurance protecting the value of your HCR holdings. You may sustain losses exceeding your initial position size in leveraged or derivatives markets (if offered).

Market Risk
Prices are set by supply and demand from market participants. CHC does not guarantee or set prices. HCR value may rise or fall sharply in short periods.
Liquidity Risk
There may be periods of low liquidity. Large orders may move the market price significantly (price impact). You may not be able to fill an order at your desired price.
Technical Risk
Blockchain networks, smart contracts, and exchange software may contain bugs, be vulnerable to attacks, or experience unplanned downtime.
Regulatory Risk
Digital commodity regulation is rapidly evolving. Future laws or regulations may affect your ability to use HC.exchange, the value of tokens, or require operational changes.
Health Data Risk
HCR earning rates depend on verified health activities. Changes to verification criteria, device compatibility, or data availability may affect your earning rate.
Halving Risk
HCR follows a Bitcoin-inspired halving schedule across 7 eras. As cumulative health activities increase, per-activity reward rates decrease permanently.
Counterparty Risk
Trading involves counterparties. While CHC operates the order book, CHC does not guarantee the performance of any counterparty or third-party custodian.
Tax Risk
Trading and earning HCR may create taxable events including capital gains, ordinary income, or other tax liabilities. Tax law is subject to change.
HCR Halving Schedule Detail

HCR is designed with a fixed supply schedule inspired by Bitcoin's halving model. HCR is distributed across 7 eras. In each successive era, the HCR reward per verified health activity is reduced by 50%. This means early participants earn HCR at higher rates than later participants. The halving schedule creates deflationary pressure on HCR supply but does not guarantee appreciation in price. Halving events are predetermined and cannot be modified by CHC once the chain is live.

Tax and Reporting Obligations

Trading HCR may generate taxable events under US federal and state tax law. Specifically:

  • Capital Gains/Losses: Gains and losses from dispositions of HCR are reportable on IRS Form 8949 and Schedule D. Short-term and long-term treatment depends on your holding period.
  • Wellness-Earned HCR: HCR earned through health activities is treated as ordinary income at fair market value at the time of receipt (IRC §61) with a zero cost basis.
  • 1099-B: HC.exchange issues IRS Form 1099-B for reportable dispositions. Additional state tax obligations may apply.
